Klaas was appointed the Chief Operating Officer of QBE’s Asia business in January 2025.

Based in Hong Kong, his responsibilities include leading the firm’s strategy development, business transformation, and data & analytics initiatives across the region. Additionally, he provides executive oversight for Asia across technology, procurement & operational risk, and marketing & communications.

Prior to his latest appointment, Klaas held multiple senior positions within QBE and was most recently its Chief Information Officer, QBE Asia, since 2018. He first joined
QBE in January 2016 as Head of Business Systems Management, Asia Pacific, later becoming Head of Application Management & IT Operations for emerging markets, and Head of Programme Delivery for Asia Pacific and Latin America.

Prior to his time with QBE, Klaas was a management consultant, working across Europe, Australia, and Hong Kong for over a decade.
