David Piesse is Chairman of Ambassadors for the International Insurance Society and a member of the research council for cyber research to which he makes regular contributions to IIS Insights 

He is the Managing Director of APOL Ventures , a Hong Kong investment advisory consultancy company attached to a family office. DP88 works with investment banks and FInTECH/InsureTech funds globally matching investment to technology innovation.  

He is the Global Insurance Lead for Vulcain.AI a causal Causal AI company specialising in knowledge management.  

He is Head of Specialty Insurance Asia Pacific for Gate Insurance . 

His global career has spanned 40 years in the financial services industry,  information technology and risk management  across multiple channels and markets . He founded one of the first insurance online companies in the dot.com era and was the global head of Insurance and Asia Pacific business leader in regional banking and securities for Sun Microsystems based on Hong Kong . 

Currently he is on the advisory board of Guardtime the world’s  largest blockchain company  and Ultimate Risk Solutions specialising in risk  based capital management and solvency using enterprise risk management software and advises many companies on climate change, cyber and space debris risk. 

He holds qualifications from the British Computer Society and Chartered Insurance Institute and in 2017 was awarded the Kenneth Black Junior Award by the IIS (International Insurance Society) for services to global insurance community.
