Jai Pawani has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer, HSBC Insurance Hong Kong & Macau effective 1 October 2021.

In his immediate previous role, Jai was COO, India for HSBC since Mar 2017. During this period, he has led several digital, regulatory, efficiency and remediation initiatives across business and product lines. Jai also set up of the first ever Data teams and brought in an innovation mindset working closely with HSBC Technology and key external partners.

Earlier, Jai has worked in Taiwan as COO for 3 years and also Executive Director of the Board. He was also the COO in Vietnam & Deputy CEO, heading all technology, operations, professional service and transformation functions. The countrywide role included overseeing the strategic relationship from HSBC to the Bao Viet and TechComm Bank from a Technology and Operations perspective.

Jai has worked in various Business, Operations, Technology, Training, Strategy & Planning and Change Leadership roles in HSBC, Hong Kong, leading several successful global/regional programs and projects across Insurance, Wealth Management and Sales and Distribution domains. Jai also brings with him prior business experience in Credit Cards (ANZ, India) where he started his career.

Jai holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Melbourne Business School, (University of Melbourne, Australia). Holds a graduate degree in Science from Loyola College, (University of Madras, Chennai, India) and an Advanced Diploma in Systems Management (NIIT, Chennai, India).
